Analyst Ben “Noxville” Steenhuisen reported that he had identified thousands of bots in ranked Dota 2 matches. He shared the findings on his X (formerly Twitter) page.

The bots were detected using the Windrun platform. Since mid-January 2026, a total of 24,779 bot accounts have been identified, collectively playing 121,977 matches, which were subsequently flagged as “compromised.”

Bot activity peaked in February, when matches involving bots accounted for 21.3% of all games. The second-highest figure was recorded in May at 14.7%.

According to the analyst, there are currently around eight different bot networks in operation. Each of them has distinct “signatures,” such as geographic patterns, playstyle, and other behavioral traits.

Many of these accounts initially feature a default Steam logo and semi-random but plausible nicknames. After around 200 matches in Ability Draft mode, they change their nickname and profile picture. They are then transferred to another region, where they begin playing ranked matches.

As a reminder, Battlefield 6 recently showcased gameplay from its third season.
