In 2025, the global esports industry recorded growth for the third consecutive year. According to Esports Charts, total watch time reached 3.3 billion hours, excluding Chinese streaming platforms, which represents a 1.5% increase compared to the previous year.

This level of engagement surpassed even the peak figures seen during the COVID-19 pandemic, which had previously been considered the highest point for digital content consumption.

Mobile esports now accounts for more than 25% of total watch hours. Among the fastest-growing titles are Battlegrounds Mobile India, Arena of Valor, Honor of Kings, and Clash Royale.

A major contribution to the record came from Counter-Strike 2, whose watch time increased by 33%. This growth was driven by a packed tournament calendar and the constant presence of high-profile matches.

Audience growth was also accompanied by financial expansion. The total esports prize pool in 2025 exceeded $272.6 million, marking a 15% increase compared to 2024.

Despite reaching historic highs, the report also highlights the industry’s growing dependence on a small group of leading esports titles. The future growth trajectory of the market will largely depend on whether other disciplines can replicate the success of today’s top games.

Reminder: The Brawl Stars Championship 2026 Last Chance Qualifier will be held in China for the first time.
