Firesprite, a Sony-owned studio known for Horizon Call of the Mountain, previously worked on several ambitious VR projects that were ultimately cancelled.

One of those projects was a virtual reality game set in the universe of the popular TV series Breaking Bad. The game was being developed in close collaboration with the show’s creator, Vince Gilligan. It was intended to be more than just a game — rather a full “VR experience” that would allow players to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the series and visit iconic locations.

Development began back in 2017, but Sony shut the project down about a year later. According to Gilligan, millions of dollars had already been invested at that point, but the company’s strategy changed.

Another cancelled project was a sci-fi horror game described as being similar in tone to the Dead Space series.

Despite these cancellations and recent reports about a “toxic culture” inside the studio after the Sony acquisition, Firesprite continues working on new titles. The team is currently developing a AAA horror game with a strong focus on story. There are rumors that the project may be based on an existing well-known franchise, with some sources hinting at something similar to Until Dawn.

As a reminder, Petrichor Road won PUBG Global Series 2026 Circuit 1 Series 1, while NAVI finished in sixth place.
