Forza Horizon 6 will soon introduce a new Drift Attack mode that combines the freedom of the open world with competitive drifting. The update is scheduled to launch on September 7, with the new activity taking place at the permanent Shimanoyama Circuit without loading screens.
Playground Games revealed Drift Attack ahead of gamescom. Players can simply drive to the circuit, pass through the dedicated gantry and jump straight into the event. The concept is similar to Time Attack, but instead of chasing the fastest lap, players compete to earn the highest possible drift score.
Points are awarded for drifting around the track in a way similar to Horizon Drift and Drift Zones. The circuit will also feature Clipping Zones that provide bonus points when players perform drifts within their boundaries. There is no lap limit, allowing drivers to keep going and build their score for as long as they can maintain their run.

Drift Attack will also feature full in-world and Convoy leaderboards, while players will be able to compare results by drivetrain type.
The new mode will be integrated into the Horizon Festival Campaign. Completing it will allow players to unlock the specially customized 1990 Jaguar XJ-S Forza Edition, designed with drifting in mind. A standard version of the Jaguar XJ-S will also be added to the Autoshow for purchase.

Drift Attack becomes available after obtaining the Yellow Wristband at the Horizon Festival. The Shimanoyama Circuit arena itself will remain a permanent part of the game, while future series updates are planned to introduce additional Evolving World Drift Attack events.
The September update will also bring a British Automotive celebration to the Horizon Festival starting September 10. Players will be able to take part in a British Automotive Takeover featuring deals on rare and iconic British cars, along with three new-to-Horizon cars available through the Festival Playlist. Car Pass owners will receive another four new-to-Horizon vehicles.
Meanwhile, Forza Horizon 6 is preparing a collaboration with 7-Eleven for the October series update. The partnership will introduce a 7-Eleven Evolving World and an EventLab Content Pack, with more details expected closer to release.
