Turkish organization FUT is on the verge of completing the transfer of Spanish AWPer Álvaro "SunPayus" García. In their Counter-Strike 2 lineup, he is set to replace Nikita "cmtry" Samolotov, who has struggled for consistency throughout 2026.
The 27-year-old SunPayus has been benched by G2 since June, when he was replaced by Artem "r1nkle" Moroz. The Spaniard's arrival will bring experience to FUT's young roster and expand its tactical options, as he can serve as a secondary caller. Among other candidates for the AWPer position, the organization considered Alan "flayy" Krupa and Henrich "sl3nd" Hevesi, who underwent trial games with the team.
His predecessor, cmtry, developed through the Natus Vincere academy system (playing for NAVI Youth and NAVI Junior) until FUT bought out the core of that roster in August 2025. In April 2026, cmtry earned his first MVP award after helping FUT win PGL Bucharest with a 1.24 rating. However, that performance proved to be one of the few bright spots in a difficult season for him, as his average LAN rating in 2026 stood at just 1.00.
SunPayus will mark only the second signing for FUT since entering the discipline. In July, the club acquired Yasin "xfl0ud" Koç from HEROIC to replace Laurențiu "lauNX" Țârlea, who currently remains on the bench. The Spaniard is expected to make his debut for the new team at PGL Masters Bucharest, scheduled for October 24–31.
