Polyphony Digital has released a major August update for Gran Turismo 7. Alongside four new cars, additional events, and a new course layout, Update 1.71 makes substantial changes to the game's physics simulation, tire behavior, suspension, engine torque control, and force feedback systems.
Patch 1.71 adds 4 new cars to Gran Turismo 7:

Three new events have also been added to World Circuits, while the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya Rallycross Layout is now available in Circuit Experience.
The biggest changes concern Gran Turismo 7's physics. Polyphony Digital has updated the tire physics algorithm, including how tires behave while slipping, as well as their heating, wear, and rolling resistance. Engine torque control has also been adjusted, improving throttle behavior during drifting and vehicle control when using partial throttle. Suspension and steering physics have received further tuning, including revised steering geometry and damper characteristics.
The patch also introduces extensive balancing changes across the game's cars. Performance Points and individual vehicle parameters have been adjusted, alongside maximum engine RPM, gear shifting behavior, and fuel consumption for selected vehicles. The Traction Control and ABS assistance systems have also been optimized.

Players using controllers and racing wheels will notice changes as well. Wireless controllers now feature revised steering, throttle, and brake responses. Steering wheels have received adjustments to Force Feedback torque strength and friction, understeer vibration, and throttle and brake input characteristics. Fanatec devices have also received several optimizations, while the GT DD Pro is set to gain FullForce feedback effects following a required firmware update.
The mechanical damage system has been revised too. Collision thresholds and the effects of damage on vehicle handling have been adjusted, while a new Championship setting makes cars take damage from lighter impacts and varies recovery time according to the severity of the damage.
Other changes include automatic use of the latest version of PSSR on PS5 Pro, leaderboard resets across numerous modes, revised target times for Licence Tests and Circuit Experience, additional event adjustments, and less strict shortcut penalty criteria.
The Café has received new conversations tied to the four new vehicles, while the Seasonal Menu becomes available after completing Menu Book No. 39 and watching its ending. Several cars have also gained new engine swap options, and Whistler has been added as a featured Scapes location.
Gran Turismo 7 originally launched in March 2022 and continues to receive substantial updates more than four years after its release.

As a Reminder, Terraria receives the final Bigger and Boulder patch.
