A signature leather jacket worn by NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang has become one of the most expensive pieces of clothing ever sold at auction. The item fetched $960,000 at Sotheby's after 65 bids from 45 collectors, far exceeding its pre-sale estimate of $40,000 to $60,000.
While a new Tom Ford leather jacket typically retails for around $10,000, this particular piece carried additional value because it had been worn and signed by Huang. He famously wore it during a Foxconn event in Taipei in 2023. According to Sotheby's, demand for the collectible surpassed all expectations.
Brahm Wachter, the auction house's Head of Modern Collectibles, said:
«The response to this sale surpassed even our highest expectations».
The proceeds from the auction will support the Edge Institute, a nonprofit organization focused on advancing technological innovation through fellowships, grants, and research programs.

As a Reminder, Jensen Huang's autographed jacket to be auctioned at Sotheby's.
