American esports organization M80 has acquired the Boston Breach franchise and will now represent Massachusetts in the Call of Duty League under the new name M80 Boston. This is the largest deal in the organization's history, marking its entry into Call of Duty and expanding its overall roster to six games, which include Counter-Strike 2, VALORANT, Rainbow Six Siege, Rocket League, and 2XKO.

The team will be based in Greater Boston, becoming the only CDL franchise in the New England region. M80 plans to actively develop its local presence through local events, watch parties, engagement with collegiate and amateur teams, and integration with local businesses. The organization attributes its decision to join the league to recent viewership growth and preparation for the new season, which launches alongside the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, scheduled for October 23, 2026.

Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed, but the deal is accompanied by strategic personnel appointments and leadership changes at M80:

  • Adam Morrison, co-founder of Oxygen Esports (the former operator of Boston Breach), has acquired an ownership stake in M80 and taken on the role of Chief Commercial Officer. He will oversee partnerships, sponsorship sales, media rights, and overall revenue growth.
  • Richard Nino, an asset management expert and former Executive Vice President at Fiera Capital, has joined as a strategic investor and senior advisor. He will be responsible for raising institutional capital and long-term financial planning.
  • Kevin Conroy, former President of Digital Platforms at MGM with prior experience at Univision and AOL, has joined the board of directors. His role is to guide M80's expansion into media, entertainment, and original content creation.

The acquisition of the CDL franchise is another major step for the organization. Last year, M80 also invested in creating an esports training camp in partnership with the Florida-based IMG Academy, offering courses across various game titles.
