Two weeks before the start of the main Dota 2 tournament of the year, which will be held in Shanghai this year with 16 participating teams, Valve has released a global update. Esports activities, supporter clubs, and a massive "Summer Scrub" featuring balance updates and a historic rating reset are now available to players.

Supporter clubs for all 16 participating teams and over a hundred broadcast talents have appeared in the game. Community broadcast bundles have also been added, specifically for WXC Co., NS_ART, and the Ukrainian Maincast. Teams, talents, and organizers receive 50% of the bundle sales, while another 30% goes to the tournament's prize pool. Owners of the gold-tier supporter club will receive a unique base statue that can be upgraded and used until the end of September.

Furthermore, predictions for the Swiss-system matches and the playoff bracket are now open for players. All results must be submitted before the start of the tournament's first match—Thursday, August 13, at 5:00 AM Kyiv time.

The developers have introduced a fresh take on the fantasy league. Participants now take on the role of coaches and can assign special modifiers that affect the entire team. Prefixes, suffixes, and the rules for selecting esports players have been updated. From now on, the roster is primarily formed of pairs: two support players from one team, two side-lane players from another, and one mid-lane player.

Among the rewards for the best participants, the Tyrian Regalia treasure has returned with five updated Immortal items. The main innovation is the terrain token, allowing winners to choose one of six classic game terrains, including Reef's Edge and Immortal Gardens.

Alongside the tournament content, the "Summer Scrub 2026" event has launched. The developers fixed numerous bugs, improved general aspects of the game, and released the 7.41e balance patch. The ability to assign individual hotkeys for each controlled non-hero unit has also been added.

Dota Plus subscribers have received a significantly expanded toolkit for post-match analysis:

  • Added new sections with information on dispels, team damage reduction, and exact ally contributions.
  • Damage statistics now record exactly which abilities dealt the killing blow and account for the impact of items.
  • A detailed breakdown of healing, indicating its sources, has appeared. All new analytics can be filtered by game time for a detailed study of the match's key moments.

One of the most unexpected events of the update was the massive reset and scan of player rankings. Esports professionals and users with the Immortal rank have lost a significant amount of MMR. Currently, the highest score on the global leaderboard stands at 9,500 points.
