The Japanese division of McDonald's has unveiled a new promotional collaboration with the Mega Man franchise.

The centerpiece of the campaign is a promotional video featuring a cover version of Team Nekokan’s track “Can’t Beat Air Man.” In the ad, the 8-bit sprite of the main hero — known in Japan as Rockman — battles a “possessed” McCafe coffee machine. The character later places an order and visits a McDonald’s restaurant to pick up an iced coffee.

As part of the campaign, customers can also receive digital rewards. Users are able to exchange bonus points from the My McDonald’s loyalty program for exclusive mobile wallpapers. Available designs include 8-bit versions of Mega Man and Doctor Wily, as well as the logo for the upcoming game Mega Man Dual Override.

The collaboration arrives amid renewed activity surrounding the franchise. During The Game Awards 2025, Capcom officially announced Mega Man Dual Override, which is currently scheduled for release in 2027.

Additionally, Capcom released Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection in March 2026, featuring seven games from the series along with bonus artwork. Classic Mega Man titles also remain available on Nintendo Switch, PC, Xbox, and PlayStation platforms.

As a reminder, Microsoft will pay $250 million to settle the shareholder lawsuit related to the acquisition of Activision Blizzard.
