The canceled DOOM 4 has once again attracted attention after a new batch of videos, concept art, and animations appeared online, offering another look at what the game could have been before id Software rebooted the franchise.
User Crispies shared the new footage on X, with the discovery also highlighted by the r/GamingLeaksAndRumours community. The videos show how far development had progressed, featuring animations of possessed soldiers, their spoken dialogue, enemy behavior, and animations for both allies and hostile characters.
In addition, dataminers Crispies and WadOverdose published environment concept art, character models, and an early animation of one of the demons. Previous leaks had already revealed a concept trailer and screenshots from an early build, but the latest materials provide an even closer look at the canceled project.

Fans also noticed that some assets originally created for DOOM 4 appear to have been reused in the Revelations expansion for DOOM: The Dark Ages. Flynn Taggart's flashback sequences include familiar assault rifle and machine gun models, while the DLC may also feature vehicles and urban environments that were initially built for DOOM 4.
Development of DOOM 4 began in 2008 but the project was ultimately canceled before release. id Software later abandoned the original direction and rebooted the franchise with the successful 2016 DOOM.
According to journalist Tom Warren, despite recent layoffs, id Software is already working on a new DOOM title. An unofficial long-standing rumor suggests that one reason DOOM 4 was canceled was because it had become too similar to the Call of Duty series.
