A new report suggests CD Projekt Red may have been working on another project set in the Cyberpunk universe. According to the portfolio of a former WayForward developer, the studio collaborated with CD Projekt Red on an unannounced title codenamed Gemini, based on the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime.
The portfolio indicates that development took place throughout 2025 and into 2026 during an early research and prototyping phase. The game was reportedly envisioned as a 2.5D beat 'em up featuring online multiplayer and rollback netcode.
The developer's portfolio also included an internal logo combining the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners branding with the Gemini codename, reinforcing its connection to the anime.
The project's current status remains unclear, but reports suggest it may have been canceled. Separate findings indicate that WayForward had an unannounced Unreal Engine 5 title based on a licensed IP, though development was reportedly halted after funding delays, followed by layoffs at the studio in September last year. It has not been confirmed whether this was Project Gemini, but the timelines closely match.
Even if the project never moved beyond its early stages, the discovery suggests CD Projekt Red had been exploring ways to expand the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners universe beyond the animated series.
