Fans of fantasy action role playing games are eagerly waiting for The Blood of Dawnwalker, an ambitious project from the Polish studio Rebel Wolves, founded by veterans of CD Projekt known for their work on The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077.

In earlier presentations, the developers stated that they plan to release the drama about Carpathian vampires in 2026 on PC, Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, and it seems they are still sticking to that plan.

In an interview with The Game Business, game director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz said he is confident that The Blood of Dawnwalker will release by the end of the year. According to him, the game is almost finished and the team is currently going through certification on different platforms, a process that can vary in length but is not expected to cause major delays.

Tomaszkiewicz also emphasized that he is not worried about competition from other role playing games or major releases in 2026. He stressed that he does not aim to build a large corporation like CD Projekt, but instead wants to keep a small team and focus on making games that both developers and players enjoy.

Journalists from The Game Business also noted that the game demos have received very positive feedback, and analysts estimate that around one million Steam users have added the game to their wish list.

The story of The Blood of Dawnwalker centers on an ancient Carpathian vampire clan. In the fourteenth century, Europe is struck by a plague, but vampires are immune and can even help humans survive. However, this also leads to an expansion of their power and partial transformation of humans into vampires.

The main character, a peasant named Coen, is forced to seek help from vampires and becomes partially one of them. He is torn between his humanity and his new nature, and the outcome depends on player choices.

The developers promise a highly nonlinear story, branching side quests that influence the entire game world, and deep character relationships. Next summer, Rebel Wolves plan to hold several large scale presentations of the game.

As a Reminder, Ubisoft pushes Ghost Recon forward while Splinter Cell remake needs more time.
