Electronic Arts has conducted a series of simulations for the upcoming FIFA World Cup using EA Sports FC 26. According to the results, the Spain national football team is the leading contender for the title and is projected to win the tournament.
EA’s football simulation games have correctly predicted the last four World Cup champions in a row: Spain in 2010, Germany in 2014, France in 2018, and Argentina in 2022.
The simulation projects Spanish winger Lamine Yamal to finish as the tournament’s top scorer, while his midfield teammate Pedri is expected to record the most assists for Spain.
The biggest individual surprise of the simulation is Elliot Anderson. Despite his current Premier League statistics, the game predicts that he will finish as the overall assist leader of the entire World Cup.
For the United States men's national soccer team, which will co-host the tournament alongside the national teams of Canada and Mexico, the simulation suggests a realistic outcome. The data indicates that the Round of 16 is the most common stage at which Mauricio Pochettino’s squad is eliminated.
As a reminder, Konami recently launched its new eFootball advertising campaign, “JUST WATCHING?”, featuring Lionel Messi.
