Riot Games has announced the return of Go4LoL—one of the earliest competitive circuits in League of Legends history. The revival of the classic series coincides with the launch of the League Classic game mode, and the first tournament will kick off on August 1, just a few days after the mode's release on the live servers.

Before the introduction of the LCS in 2013, Go4LoL was a series of open tournaments operated by ESL during the game's early developmental stages. These weekly European competitions were a key platform for amateurs and semi-professionals to compete for Riot Points and cash prizes. For high-elo players, the tournaments were the primary way to gain competitive experience, make a name for themselves, and attract the attention of top esports clubs.

With the release of League Classic, tournaments will take place every Saturday throughout August. Registration will be completely open: the developers have set no qualification requirements or limits on the number of participating teams.

It has currently been confirmed that the tournament series will be available exclusively on the North American server. Each event will take place over a single day and feature a single-elimination bracket format.

A total of four qualifier tournaments will be held in August. Based on the results, the top two teams from each qualifier will advance to the grand final tournament, which is scheduled for Saturday, August 29.

So far, Riot Games has not confirmed whether Go4LoL will become a permanent part of the League of Legends Classic ecosystem after the August competitions conclude. The future of the tournament, much like the classic mode itself, will depend on player interest and the success of the initial events. For now, the return of Go4LoL gives both veterans and newcomers an opportunity to experience the atmosphere of early League of Legends esports.
