Crystal Dynamics has released another developer diary for Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, the remake of the original game that launched the iconic Lara Croft franchise.

The project is being co-developed with Polish studio Flying Wild Hog. According to the team, the goal is to preserve the spirit of the 1996 classic while updating it for modern players. One of the biggest areas of focus is the game's puzzle design, which was a defining feature of the original adventure.

The latest video reveals that Lara will once again encounter intricate ancient mechanisms and challenging environmental puzzles. These sequences have not only been preserved but expanded, with several solutions redesigned so that even longtime fans won't be able to rely solely on their memories and will still be surprised.

Deadly traps are also returning in the remake. Classic hazards have been reworked and expanded, while brand-new dangers have been added throughout the levels. Hidden pressure plates and tripwires will be scattered across environments and, unlike many modern games, they won't be highlighted. Players will instead need to watch every step Lara takes and pay close attention to environmental clues, including the remains of less fortunate adventurers.

Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis was recently delayed and is now scheduled to launch on February 12, 2027, for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch 2.

Meanwhile, the brand-new Tomb Raider title, Catalyst, has also been pushed back and is now expected to arrive in 2028.
