People's Deputy Ruslan Horbenko has stated that experienced Counter-Strike players can provide tangible value to the modern Ukrainian army.
"We need specialists who know how to play Counter-Strike and participate in all those cool tournaments. The ability to work on a laptop is currently valued in the military at the level of a lieutenant colonel. We understand that young people have parents, especially mothers, who are very concerned about their children's safety. Modern warfare can provide this—allowing young men to operate drones from basements at a distance of 500–1,000 kilometers [from the front line]. Both the means and the opportunities for this exist."
According to him, war is increasingly shifting toward a technological format where key roles are played by operators of drones, robotic systems, and other high-tech equipment. The skills that gamers hone for years, fast reaction times, precision, digital spatial awareness, and teamwork under pressure—are becoming highly sought after on the front lines today.
